Sunrise Session for Danielle & Dan

So, my photographer buddy Danielle Anthony just had her first baby.  And wow, is she in love!  I was lucky enough to photograph Baby Winston’s birth and the epic saga that got him here.  And just a few days after he was born, we had him out and on his second (I know, right?) photoshoot.  That’s what happens when you’re a photographer’s kiddo.

We settled on shooting them in a field at sunrise because we wanted to do something different than the typical newborn shots.  Specifically, she wanted to get shots of their new family, something that told the story of their love.

I scoped out the the perfect spot one evening but hadn’t been there at dawn.  So when we got there I realized I couldn’t set up the shot the way I wanted – shooting into the sun.  So, we romped around a bit (at 6am – they were great sports!), did just a touch of tresspassing and apologizing profusely, and got some really sweet shots that I hope capture how in love they are with one another and with this sweet little guy.  Here are some of my favs.

Where does the time go?!?!?

I’ve been working overtime trying to finish editing the sessions from my July special. August was a blur, but the highlight of last month was my wonderful workshop with Barb Uil of Jinky Art in Round Top, Texas. More photos to come from that amazing two and a half day creative extravaganza, but here’s the ones I’m working on right now.

The shot I look for

In most shoots, there’s one shot that I know I have at the moments I take it. And when I get home and start downloading, it’s the one I’m looking for. Today, it was this little munchkin. She had three wonderful, beautiful siblings, but she was the last to come out of her shell, the last to drink the Corey koolaid. And boy, was it fun when she broke out. We had a ball. So, here’s the shot I was looking for when I came home….

Senior Sisters

Earlier this week, I photographed two of my senior reps in downtown Chapel Hill.  These two beautiful girls are only 19 months apart in age!  What fun!  To have a sister in your same grade.  The part of me with a million brothers was jealous.

We had a blast.  We romped around town – having ice cream, taking pics of them riding “piggy back” and lots more.  It was fun to see their personalities come out through their interactions with one another and with the camera.  Though we took some lovely “senior” shots, my favorites are the ice cream images.  That’s where thier playfulness really came through.

My very first wedding

A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of second shooting with Emily Corey.  It was my very first wedding to photograph and I loved every minute.  It brought back memories of my wedding planning days – lots of time on my feet, the heat, the pace.  But it also brought back that old feeling – how amazing and wonderful it is to see an event like that come together.  To spend a day with a family during the wedding is to know them in a way that’s so personal.  And I love, love, love it.  My plan for the next 6-12 months is to second shoot as much as I can – put together a portfolio and build some experience.  And then, get ready world!  Corey Williams Weddings will be back – just in a new form!  Here are some of my favorites from my very first event.
